McKenzie Lake Families,
This past week, our Grade 2 students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Bow Habitat Station and Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery. They participated in the Trout Tales program, which explored life cycles, food chains, and aquatic ecology.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make this enriching experience possible for our students.
The Bow Habitat Station is a hidden gem that many families may not have explored yet. It's open to the public and makes for a fun and educational way to spend a Saturday afternoon. You can find more information about hours and admission here: Bow Habitat Station.
Mountain Park Band Performance
The Mountain Park Band has rescheduled their performance at our school. We are now looking forward to welcoming them on Tuesday, April 15.
McKenzie Lake School Yearbook
The 2024–2025 McKenzie Lake School Yearbook is now available for pre-order through Lifetouch. The cost is $25. Orders can be placed online at: ybpay.lifetouch.ca.
Please use our school code 14683925, or search for our school name to place your order.
Yearbooks will arrive before the end of the school year and will be distributed to students during the final week of school.
Spring Concert
Our Grade 3-5 students have been working diligently to prepare for the upcoming Spring Concert. Due to the capacity restrictions of our gymnasium, we will be hosting two performances to accommodate those who cannot attend the evening performance due to extracurricular commitments, as well as to adhere to our 2-ticket per family limit.
In the past, we have been able to grant additional ticket requests for the evening performance. However, due to the large number of students in Grades 3-5, we are unable to offer extra tickets this year. Each family will receive two tickets, which will be sent home with the oldest child the week of the performance.
- Thursday, April 24 – 1:00pm – No ticket required
- Thursday, April 24 – 6:00pm – Restricted to 2 tickets per family
Are You Moving?
It's hard to believe, but we are already in the early stages of planning for the 2025-2026 school year. If your family has moved outside the McKenzie Lake School designated zone, you will need to complete a Transfer Request Form to register at your new school for September. Please email the office to request a form.
If your child will NOT be returning to McKenzie Lake School for Grades 1-5 next year, please inform the school office, by email, as soon as possible so that we can better plan for the upcoming school year. (mckenzielake@cbe.ab.ca)
All Grade 5 students are automatically designated to their assigned school for Grade 6, based on their current home address.
Sincerely,
Dayna McComish
