Don’t Miss Out on School Messages

We use SchoolMessenger to send email, text (SMS) and voice messages from our school and from the CBE. Here are some steps you can take if you're missing some of our messages.

Subscribe For Commercial Messages

Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, parents and guardians need to subscribe online to receive some email and text messages on topics like student fees, picture days, field trip costs, yearbooks, fun lunches and more.

Opt In for Text Messages

In addition, to receive any text (SMS) messages from our school or The Calgary Board of Education, you must opt in for texts. Use the cell phone on file with the school to text the word YES to the six-digit number 978338.

There is no extra cost to receive SMS messages from CBE, but standard message rates and data charges from your carrier apply when you receive messages from us. See all terms and conditions at www.cbe.ab.ca/SMS.

For more information, visit www.cbe.ab.ca/subscribe or view common Questions and Answers.

Make Sure Your Email Address is Correct

If you’re not getting any email messages from us, your email address may be missing or incorrect in our system. If you're not sure, email us so we can confirm or update your email address.

Make Sure You Have Space in Your Inbox

If you’re not getting any email messages from us, your inbox may be full. Make sure your email inbox has available storage space. If your inbox is full, new emails may not be received and may result in your email being blocked.

Fix a Blocked Email Address

If your email address is correct but messages still aren't getting through, our emails may be blocked from reaching you. Blocks can happen if:

  • if you clicked Unsubscribe at the top of any mass emails from a CBE email address, it will block you from all CBE messages sent through SchoolMessenger whether sent by teacher, the school or system.
  • your inbox was full when our message was sent
  • if you intentionally or accidentally tag an email as spam or junk
  • if your email server recognized that an email was from a mass mailing system and tries to prevent spamming

Follow these three steps to unblock your email address.

1. Ask Our School to Remove Blocks

Email your school and ask us to remove any SchoolMessenger (mass) email blocks on our end. You only need to email one school.
