Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
On Thursday, McKenzie Lake School had 112 grade one students spend the day at the Telus Spark Science Centre. Upon their return, the students excitedly shared their favorite parts of the program and explorations. The school expresses sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who contributed to making this enriching experience possible for the students.
In the upcoming week, the Mountain Park School Band will visit to perform for the students, a much-anticipated event where they can enjoy familiar songs and learn about various musical instruments they will have the option to learn to play in middle school.
A friendly reminder to parents: McKenzie Lake School maintains a 'No Cellphone' policy for students. Students who bring cellphones to school are required to keep them turned off and stored in their backpacks until dismissal.
2024-2025 School Planning – Have You Moved?
As we begin planning for the 2024-2025 school year, we ask that families let the school know if they are planning on attending a different school for the upcoming school year. Please rely to this email, if your family will not be attending MLS next year.
If your family has moved out of our designated areas, you are required to register at your new community school. We can help you complete the Student Transfer form required to complete this process. If you are moving outside of the CBE, a form is not required but we appreciate being informed of your intentions to move with as much notice as possible as it helps us to plan for required staffing and resources for the upcoming school year.
Grade 1 & 2 Spring Concert
Our Grade 1 & 2 students have been working hard with Ms. Kvicala preparing for their upcoming Spring Concert performance, Thursday, April 25 at 6:00pm. Due to capacity restrictions of our gymnasium, each Grade 1&2 family will receive 2 tickets to the evening performance. Tickets will be sent home with students the week of the performance. Students will also be offering a Thursday afternoon performance at 1:15pm for families unable to attend that evening, or those having additional families members wanting to attend that exceed the evening 2 ticket limit.
Yearbook Orders
Each year McKenzie Lake School creates a yearbook highlighting portraits of each students in each class, in addition to collage pages with photos from throughout the school year. Yearbook purchases are optional to families and can be order through LifeTouch at ybpay.lifetouch.ca for $20.00. Yearbooks will arrive at the end of June and be distributed to students who have ordered. (McKenzie Lake Yearbook ID code: 14683924)
School Council Casino Fundraiser
Our School Council is gearing up for its largest fundraiser on June 25 & 26 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, and we are in need of your support. This event is crucial in funding a variety of initiatives, including learning resources, residences, Phys. Ed equipment, and field trips that greatly benefit our school community. No prior experience is necessary, as all training will be provided on-site. Volunteers will not be involved at the gaming tables but will assist in essential behind-the-scenes tasks such as delivering chips to tables and counting money. Your contribution, even for just one shift, will make a significant impact. Please consider signing up for a shift using the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4BA9A928A6F49-47524022-mckenzie.
