Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
We hope you had a fantastic Family Day long weekend, filled with laughter and quality time together. The outdoor skating rinks were busy with activity as families enjoyed time together. Looking ahead, this week promises to be bustling with field trips for grades 2 and 3, providing excellent learning opportunities for the students. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated volunteers whose efforts make these enriching experiences possible for our students.
Volunteer Applications Available Through School Engage
In order to volunteer within the school or to field trips, individuals need to complete a volunteer clearance through the Calgary Board of Education. Starting on Friday, Feb. 9, parents and guardians can now register to volunteer online in the SchoolEngage tab of their MyCBE account. Members of the community without a child in the system can also create a SchoolEngage account. Once volunteers have their police information check and vulnerable sector clearance document (PIC VS), it can be uploaded and shared directly with the school through the SchoolEngage account. Schools and volunteers can see their application status and if more information is required by the school to complete the process to volunteer. |
Community Centre Parking Request
The McKenzie Lake Community Centre has requested that we remind parents their parking lot is for people accessing the community centre only, and not for parents to utilize during drop off and pick up times. They are experiencing challenges with not having space for their families to drop-off and pick up children at the community centre and have safety concerns that are easily addressed if MLS families use the Kiss and Go and/or street parking.
Family Dance
Our School Council is organizing an MLS Family Dance for Thursday, March 14, 2024. They are seeking volunteers to help with set up, tickets/front door, concession and clean up. The Family Dance will be split into two sessions. The first session will be for families with last names starting with A-N, and the second session for O-Z.
