Dear McKenzie Lake Families,

For anyone who has walked their child to school this past week you would know firsthand what the warm weather has done to our sidewalks and school grounds. We have been fortunate enough to be able to get outside but we have constantly been fighting the icy conditions in the morning that turn to slushy conditions and large puddles on the sidewalks in the afternoon.  On days where significant melting has occurred, if you are looking to avoid the mini lake that appears on our sidewalk leading to the front entrance, you are welcome to have your child enter and exit the building at any doors and meet you at a designated meeting spot.  We will continue to try out best to shovel and place gravel and salt on the sidewalks, and hope that more consistent temperatures this coming week will also help.

Kidsburgh Chronicles: The Valentine's Day! – Author and artist visit

It seems fitting to have author Jace Jax and artist Henry Hama visit McKenzie Lake School in the afternoon of February 14 to share their new book: The Valentine's Day!  They will be sharing their new story with us and talking about the story writing and illustrative process.  Jace and Henry have visited MLS in the past, to share their books A Halloween Tale and A Christmas Adventure.  Perhaps your family purchased a copy of these stories on their previous school visits, and would like to add their new book to your collection.  For families wanting to purchase a book, pre-order forms will be sent home this week.

Our School Council is organizing an MLS Family Dance for Thursday, March 14, 2024.  They are seeking volunteers to help with set up, tickets/front door, concession and clean up.  The Family Dance will be split into two sessions.  The first session will be for families with last names starting with A-N, and the second session for O-Z.  If you are available to volunteer for the event, please sign up using this link:
