Dear MLS Families,
This week, our students took part in Pink Shirt Day and attended the Grade 4 assembly. Both events highlighted the powerful impact that simple acts of kindness and inclusion can have on our school community.
It was wonderful to see so many families at the Grade 4 assembly. Students proudly shared poems and skits with the audience. Some presentations focused on kindness toward others, while others reminded us that kindness also includes caring for our community. Students shared thoughtful messages about waste management and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
We would also like to thank the parent volunteers who supported Mrs. Huurman, Mrs. Talerico, and Mrs. Smith’s Grade 3 class during their visit to the Calgary Zoo. Students participated in the Edu Trek Wild Canada program, where they learned about Canadian species, their habitats, and conservation efforts to protect them. They explored biofacts that deepened their understanding of food chains and animal adaptations. Grade 3 students will return to the zoo this spring to present to guests as Conservation Champions.
February Report Cards
Parents and guardians can now access their child’s report card through their MyCBE PowerSchool account. Teachers look forward to meeting with families during Parent-Teacher Conferences on March 19 and 20. Conference booking will open on Wednesday, March 11 at 3:00 p.m.
Grade 4 AEAS Parent Survey
Grade 4 families recently received information from the Alberta Government regarding the Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance (AEAS) Parent Survey. This survey is completed by teachers, students, and Grade 4 parents to gather valuable feedback about school experiences and to support continuous improvement within our education system. Students completed their survey at school this week. We encourage parents to complete their survey, the deadline is Friday, March 6.
Sincerely,
Dayna McComish
