Dear McKenzie Lake Families,

During our School Council meeting this past week, we were able to share celebrations and photos from December and January, including the Grade 3's Food Bank Drive and Mr. McEwen's ability to spread his passion for playing Dungeon's and Dragons with a large group of students over the lunch hour.  We also expressed our gratitude to the MLS community, as this past week we were reminded of how supportive everyone is of each other: staff, students and parents/guardians.

Our Student Leadership group met earlier this week and planned a Spirit Day for Friday, January 27.  They are inviting all students to wear their pajamas to school for a day of learning in comfort.  The AM Kindergarten class does not attend on Friday, so they are invited to wear their PJs on Thursday instead.

Valentine's Day at MLS

Many students get very excited about being able to give their classmates Valentines on February 14th.  Teachers will set aside time during the day for students to hand out Valentines.  On special occasions, sometimes students want to bring in special treats for their class.  Please remember that food items should not be sent to be shared in classes.  Items such as special pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. are great alternatives.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found will be packed up at the end of January and donated to charity. Please encourage your child(ren) to check for items that they may be missing, and if possible, we encourage you to come in and check for items at drop-off or pick-up times. A reminder that the easiest way to have lost items returned is to label everything!

Sincerely,

Dayna McComish
