Dear McKenzie Lake Families,

Students had a quick but exciting week during Physical Education in our Rugby Residency with athlete Breanne Morgan! Students quickly transitioned from tag games attempting to grab each other's flags on Monday to 1v1 drills where they attempted to score a "try" before having their opponent rip their flag on Thursday. Some of the highlights included a few grade 5 students mentioning how Rugby was much more exciting than they were expecting, a grade 4 student discussing with Breanne how he would like to join a Rugby team in addition to his hockey commitments and the overall positive attitude all of the students brought to each of the sessions. It was amazing to see the impact Breanne made on so many students in such a short amount of time. Breanne will be sending Ms. Kisil additional information regarding how students can register for Rugby programs outside of school. Keep an eye out for that information in the upcoming weeks!

The forecast is predicting a very cold week, so it's important that students come prepared with all their winter attire. When the temperature is -20°C with the wind-chill, students will remain inside for recess. However, we hope the temperature warms up enough throughout the day for students to have a fresh air break. For students scheduled to go on a field trip, teachers will adjust the itinerary as needed based on the weather conditions that day.

Sincerely,

Dayna McComish
