Dear MLS Families,
On Tuesday, Mrs. Cooper and I had the pleasure of taking two student representatives downtown to the Education Centre to present at the Board of Trustees meeting. McKenzie Lake School was invited to share how we use the Focus Sequence as a tool for self-regulation in classrooms, hallways, office spaces, and during Soft Start with Ms. Mere.
Anson and Abigail did an outstanding job representing our school community and truly shone in front of Trustees, the Chief Superintendent, Superintendents, and guests. We were also able to share highlights from their presentation at our School Council meeting on Wednesday evening.
A big thank you to our School Council for organizing food trucks during Thursday evening’s conferences. With the beautiful weather, many families enjoyed the opportunity to grab dinner without having to cook.
It was wonderful to see so many families attend Parent-Teacher Conferences. These meetings provide an important opportunity to celebrate individual progress and discuss next steps in both academic and social-emotional learning. We hope you had the chance to review the writing exemplars shared by teachers, which help clarify next steps as we move into the final months of the school year—particularly in writing, our School Development Plan focus this year.
We would also like to extend our appreciation to all the volunteers who supported Mrs. Knox throughout the week to ensure a successful Scholastic Book Fair. It takes many helping hands to organize book previews, assist students with purchases, and support sales during conferences.
We wish all of our families a restful and enjoyable Spring Break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, March 30.
Sincerely,
Dayna McComish
