Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
This week's assembly was a genuine celebration of learning and inclusivity, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Grade 3 students for their exceptional efforts in sharing their insights related to social studies. The audience was captivated by their presentations, with the cultural dances and song being a particular highlight. Additionally, witnessing our EES students stand before the entire school to share the song they've been learning in music class was truly heartwarming. This collective effort not only showcased the diverse talents within our school community but also served as a fitting way to unite everyone on Pink Shirt Day, fostering a sense of togetherness and reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity and respect.
Mrs. Sorensen's Grade 5 class will be hosting their third and final popcorn sale this week. This initiative serves as a meaningful fundraiser to support the Humane Society, chosen as their class social action project. Students have the opportunity to purchase a delicious bag of popcorn for $2.50, and all proceeds from the sales will be dedicated to the noble cause of aiding the Humane Society. We appreciate your generous support in contributing to their fundraising efforts and making a positive impact on the well-being of animals through this compassionate endeavor. Thank you for supporting their cause and helping instill a sense of social responsibility in our students.
Scholastic Book Fair
Book Fair Volunteers needed for our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair for March 18-22 during the school day and during the Parent Teacher Conferences. Please contact Mrs. Knox at caknox@cbe.ab.ca if you are interested in volunteering at the book fair.
Parking Bylaw Reminder
Our bus drivers has asked up to send a request to parents, asking them to follow the city bylaw in relation to parking 1.5 meters (approximately 5 feet) away from the driveway/entrance to the school. When vehicles are parking too close, the buses have a difficult time turning onto McKenzie Lake Way without the risk of hitting the vehicles parked too close to the entrance/exit. In addition, vehicles parked within 1.5 meters are a risk of being ticketed.
School Council Casino Fundraiser
Our School Council is gearing up for its largest fundraiser on June 25 & 26 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, and we are in need of your support. This event is crucial in funding a variety of initiatives, including learning resources, residences, Phys. Ed equipment, and field trips that greatly benefit our school community. No prior experience is necessary, as all training will be provided on-site. Volunteers will not be involved at the gaming tables but will assist in essential behind-the-scenes tasks such as delivering chips to tables and counting money. Your contribution, even for just one shift, will make a significant impact. Please consider signing up for a shift using the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4BA9A928A6F49-47524022-mckenzie. Feel free to share this link with friends and family who might be interested in volunteering. Your support is greatly appreciated, and together, we can make this fundraiser a success!
Sincerely,
Dayna McComish
