Dear McKenzie Lake Families,

Mrs. Huurman’s grade 3 class spend that last week participating in Healthy Living School, at the Seton YMCA.  Healthy Living School focuses on the many ways active living contributes to a vibrant community and highlights kid’s roles within that community. Through a holistic approach to well-being, students discover a sense of self that builds strong communities and sparks a lifelong commitment to improving quality of life.  Highlights for Mrs. Huurman’s class included participating in swimming, E-sports and physical cooperative games, in addition to watercolor art, creating mindfulness jars, journalling and sketching.  While sketching the South Health Campus students also noticed how the building looks like the mountains when you squint your eyes.  Mr. McEwen’s class will be participating in Healthy Living school next week.  We would like to express our gratitude to all the volunteers who are supporting this valuable program for our students.

On Thursday, November 7 our students will gather together for our Remembrance Day Ceremony, led my our Grade 5 classes.  Poppy’s will be distributed to students that morning and families are invited to send a donation for the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.

A friendly reminder that there is no school for students on Friday, as it is our System Indigenous Education Professional Learning Day.

Sincerely,

Dayna McComish
