Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
The cold weather has finally arrived, and we've had our first indoor recess days of the school year. Please remember that students will go outside for recess unless the temperature, with wind-chill, reaches -20°C. To ensure consistency, all staff use the same website and location to check the temperature on cold days, as different apps may report temperatures from different areas of the city. You can access this information here: The Weather Network (using McKenzie Lake School as the location).
A few families have reached out requesting support for winter gear. We are currently seeking 4 pairs of size 8 snow pants and 1 pair of size 12 snow pants. If you have any of these sizes that are no longer being used and are willing to donate them, we would greatly appreciate it.
It was wonderful to see so many families during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday. Thank you to all who participated. We hope you found the conferences as valuable as our teachers did. When home and school work together with a shared message, our students can achieve even greater success and reach their full potential. We would also like to express our gratitude to our School Council for providing pizza for supper on Thursday evening. Your generosity helped keep us fueled for the evening.
On December 4 and 5, students will have a scheduled time to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and purchase books. Earlier in the week, they will visit the fair to preview the selection and bring home a Wish List. Parents are also invited to visit the Book Fair on Thursday after school between 2:30-3:30pm if they wish to make a purchase
Our Grade 3 students continue to encourage Calgary Food Bank donations between now and December 13. Thank you to everyone who already starting dropping off donations this week!
