Dear MLS Families,

It was wonderful to see so many of you during Parent Conferences on Thursday and Friday. These meetings provided a valuable opportunity for teachers to share highlights of your child’s learning, individual strengths, and next steps. These conversations play an important role in supporting each child’s learning journey, a partnership we truly value.  Many parents shared how much they enjoyed the addition of food trucks on Thursday evening, and we would like to thank our School Council for organizing this for families.

Report Card Update
Due to instructional time missed in October, the CBE has revised the timeline for the first report card. This year, parents will be able to view their child’s report card on February 24.

Food Bank Drive
Our Grade 5 students would like to thank everyone who has already donated to the Food Bank. Donations will be accepted until December 16. You may send items with your child or drop them off at the main entrance.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming to McKenzie Lake School next week. Students will have an opportunity on Monday or Tuesday to preview the book fair and write a wish list that they will bring home. On Wednesday and/or Thursday, students will be invited to purchase items at the book fair. The book fair will also be open on Thursday after school (2:30-3:30) for parents that want to come purchase books. All proceeds from the book fair will be used to purchase books for our school.

You are able to preview books available online at: https://bookfairs.scholastic.ca/bf/mckenzielakeelemsch4

Winter Celebration
Our Winter Celebration is for Grade 4 and 5 families. Each family with a student in Grade 4 or 5 will receive two tickets for the evening performance. Additional family members are welcome to attend the afternoon show, where tickets are not required.

  • December 11 – 1:00 p.m. performance (no ticket required)
  • December 11 – 6:00 p.m. performance (ticket required)

Tickets will be sent home on Monday, December 8.

Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found remains at the front entrance of the school, and parents are encouraged to stop by and retrieve any recognized items. Unclaimed items will be donated during the week of December 15.

If you are in need of labels for your child’s personal belongings, you can order them through Mabel’s Labels and choose to support the McKenzie Lake School fundraiser when placing your order. (https://mabelslabels.ca/en-CA/fundraising/support)

Sincerely,

Ms. Dayna McComish
