Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
It was an exciting week at MLS where students enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and seeing friends, teachers and staff in their costumes. Students loved walking around at recess seeing the creative costumes of others from each grade. Our Grade 5 students also headed back into Fish Creek to investigate how the wetlands have changes since their last visit, now that snow has arrived.
This week is a short week, with students attending Monday-Wednesday. Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the men and women who have served, and continued to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace. On Wednesday, MLS students will attend our Remembrance Day assembly in acknowledgement of National Indigenous Veterans Day (Nov 8) and Remembrance Day (Nov 11). We will be handing out poppies for students to wear, and individuals are able to bring donations for the Poppy Trust Fund, which directly supports Canada's Veterans and their families.
It is hard to believe that we have already reached the month of November, with this weekend being Daylights Saving time. Remember, clocks are rolled back one hour on Sunday morning. This is CBE's first year of implementing a Fall Break, and students will not have school Nov 9-Nov 14 with classes resuming Wednesday, November 15.
Sincerely,
Dayna McComish
