Dear McKenzie Lake Families,

As many have noticed, Calgary Police presence has increased during morning drop-off and dismissal at McKenzie Lake School in the past couple week.  They have been ticketing vehicles that stop in the no-stop zone between the bus lane entrance and the start of the Kiss & Go.  They have also been running licence plates and ticketing those with expired registration, since we no longer receive renewal reminders in the mail it is worth checking to ensure your vehicle registration is up to date.

We have noticed that our bells are ringing a couple minutes early for both start times and dismissal.  On Friday we tried to reset the bells to rectify this issue, but if it is not resolved on Monday please know that our hours remain the same and doors continue to open at 7:50am, school start time is 8:00am with dismissal being 2:35pm.

October 31 – Halloween

Looking ahead, October 31 is a day that most students look forward to, as it is an opportunity to dress up and wear a costume to school for Halloween.  Dressing up in a costume is optional for those wanting to participate.  If your child is choosing a costume to wear to school, please remember that it needs to be something they are able to participate in all school activities, include physical education.  Facemasks can be saved for their evening trick-or-treating, and toy weapons need to remain at home.  Those not interested in wearing a costume, alternatively could wear orange/black or their pajamas that day instead.

As a reminder: We are an allergy aware school, students are not able to distributed editable items to their friends or classrooms.
