Dear McKenzie Lake Families,

Our annual Terry Fox Run to honour this courageous Canadian icon and champion of cancer research and awareness was a huge success on Friday.  We started together in the gym, for a short assembly and warm-up, led by some Grade 5 students before heading outside.  Students proudly ran while sharing with each other who they were running for this year.  Between the donations students brought to school and those made online, McKenzie Lake School raised $1 468.45 for the Terry Fox Foundation!  The slogan for the 2023 Terry Fox Run is 'Try Like Terry', and at the end of our run, Mr. McEwen organized staff and students for a group photo spelling 'Try'.

This past Wednesday, our Grade 5 students visited Fish Creek Park for a day of learning on the land.  The focus of their walking field trip was related to their science curriculum where students learn about wetland ecosystems, by studying life in the marsh located within our community.  We would like to thank the volunteers that helped make this learning opportunity possible for students.

We look forward to welcoming parents/guardians into the school this coming Thursday and Friday.  If you have yet to sign up for a conference, it is not too late.  Conference booking is done through your MyCBE account.  Kindergarten families, please remember that students do not have school on Thursday or Friday this week due to conferences.  Grades 1-5 attend school on Thursday, and conferences are held that evening and Friday morning.
