Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
This coming week is National Week for Truth and Reconciliation leading up to Orange Shirt Day. Now also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which is officially on September 30th. Student and staff at McKenzie Lake School will be engaging in learning and conversations over the week and come together for an Orange Shirt Day assembly on Thursday, September 26. There will be many events happening all over Calgary on Sept 30th, maybe we will see you at the City of Calgary Event, in partnership with the CBE and Calgary Catholic Schools. https://www.calgary.ca/events/orange-shirt-day.html
Unfortunately, due to the capacity of our gymnasium, we are unable to invite parents to our Orange Shirt Day assembly. Throughout the school year, grade teams will be hosting celebrations of learning assemblies where parents are invited.
We are excited to welcome parents into the school for Parent Conferences on Thursday and Friday. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher and discuss goals for the school year. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so soon, as time slots are filling up. You can book your conference through your MyCBE account.
A friendly reminder for our Kindergarten families: Teachers will hold conferences during the day on Thursday, so there will be no kindergarten classes that day.
Additionally, Healthy Hunger has updated our fun lunch options for the year, and all dates are now available for families wishing to order. Fun lunch is optional for students in grades 1-5.
