Dear McKenzie Lake Families,
We would like to thank all families for their cooperation using the Kiss & Go as a drop-off location in the morning. Between 7:45-8:00am, McKenzie Lake Way experiences high levels of traffic, and not using this area as a parking zone really helps.
On Thursday and Friday, our school was one of many impacted by the internet outage. It affected school operations in a variety of ways, and we appreciated the flexibility shown by staff and students and understanding from families while some of our communications lines were unavailable. We are hopeful that all repairs will be completed by Monday.
Terry Fox Run
On Friday, September 15, students will be participating in the MLS Annual Terry Fox Run. Our school has set a goal of raising $1 000 for the Terry Fox Foundation, and are encouraging students to bring a Toonie for Terry. Families wanting to donate online can go to https://schools.terryfox.ca/McKenzieLake .
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the Terry Fox Run, by wearing running shoes and clothing for physical activity outside in the morning. Students will be gathering in the gym for a brief assembly and warm-up at 9:00am and then heading outside for the run. Parents are welcome to join us for the outside run portion of the morning, if they would like.
Fun Lunch
Our school has set up Fun Lunch opportunities, for families to purchase, a couple of times each month starting Thursday, September 28. Fun Lunch is available for students in Grades 1-5. You are able to order for individual days throughout the year, or all at once. Please note that Kernels and Cobs are included as special 'snack' days.
Unfortunately, kindergarten are not able to order Fun Lunch as they are a half-day program. Kindergarten are able to order special snacks from Kernels and Cobs on Oct. 19, Dec. 7, Jan. 18 and Mar. 21.
